"The 1995 Volnay 1er Cru Clos des Ducs was described as "sometimes, a great surprise" by Guillaume d'Angerville - which is exactly what this was. Clearly riper on the nose than the '96, the fruit redder in profile with luscious wild strawberry, quince and red plum scents, edging towards kirsch-like scents with aeration, this is just a gorgeous Clos des Ducs to simply nose. The palate is very fleshy, almost corpulent in the mouth, almost viscous in texture with an elegant, saline finish. (...)"

INFORMATIONS ABOUT THE ESTATE

Domaine Marquis d’Angerville is situated in the heart of Volnay, in Burgundy’s Côte de Beaune and consists of 13.5 hectares of vineyards, which includes holdings in no fewer than 8 Volnay 1er crus and smaller holdings in Pommard and Meursault. Pride of place belongs to the 2.90 hectare monopole of Clos Des Ducs in Volnay.
It is owned and run by Guillaume d’Angerville, who left his Paris banking job to take over in 2003 following the sudden death of his father, Jacques d’Angerville.
