"The considerable presence of cailloux (pebbles) in the vineyard's soil, which is of course the origin of the château's name, contributes greatly to the wine's quality. Perfectly balanced, it reveals a lovely aromatic bouquet, that is enhanced by notes of cedar and spices. Unusually long to evolve, this wine needs at least ten years to express all of its finesse and complexity"

The vineyard, well named "des beaux caillous" (of the beautiful pebbles), lies on 50 ha of very lovely gravelly crests parallel to the Gironde.

The wine is looked after with meticulous and incessant care. Nothing is neglected to achieve the very hightest quality. Ducru-Beaucaillou is considered by many specialists to be the quintessential wine of Bordeaux, particularly of Médoc.
