Salzberg 2013 - Weingut Gernot and Heike Heinrich (case of 6 bot.)

Tasting notes

"Blending Blaufränkisch and Merlot cultivated on calcareous sandy, clayey, silty and gravelly soils, Heinrich's single vineyard bottling 2013 Salzberg opens with a ripe, elegant, still a bit reductive but pretty intense, fresh and spicy flavored bouquet that indicates both purity and complexity. Full-bodied, intense and concentrated on the palate, with pure, ripe and pithy fruit, firm tannins and a coolish silky texture, this is a powerful, well structured and persistent red wine with good grip, nice austerity and excellent aging potential. INFORMATIONS ABOUT THE ESTATE

According to Robert Parker, Heinrich produces "...some of Austria's most celebrated red wines." Produced by hand, from low yielding vineyards in Austria's warmer south, these are expressive and interesting red wines. In 2001 Heinrich was named "Winemaker of the Year" by Austria´s leading wine magazine, Falstaff.

The Salzberg is named after the southern slope vineyard site bearing the same name and that is situated above our winery.
