"Monteverro always delivers excellent results, and this is more true than ever in this balanced and classic vintage. Although the 2016 Monteverro is never a terribly territory-driven wine (it's hard to place it from Capalbio, Tuscany, per se), it is a beautifully executed rendition based on a classic Bordeaux blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Petit Verdot. The bouquet is rich and multidimensional with dark fruit, plum cake, sweet tobacco and sweet baking spice. It is tight and well-assembled, with lasting intensity, yet its power is ultimately reined in by an elegant personality."

INFORMATIONS ABOUT THE ESTATE

The winery was founded by German-born Swiss entrepreneur, Georg Weber in the early 2000s.

He established the estate with aims to craft his very own first-class Premier Grand Cru Tuscan wine.

The first vines were planted in 2004, just outside of the Capalbio village, however, today, the property unfolds over 50-hectares – 27 of which are vineyards. The Weber family strives for perfection in every step they take.

Today, Monteverro is regarded as one of Italy’s leading Super-Tuscan producers. Their eponymous wine is also their Premier Cru. With the same proportions of Bordeaux varietals as their second wine, Terra di Monteverro, Monteverro is a complex and structured red with 24 months ageing in 80% new French-oak barrels.
