" The 2019 Clos de la Roche Grand Cru has a more open bouquet compared to the preceding Charmes-Chambertin, unfolding with black cherries, cassis and iodine aromas. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins. This is a voluminous Clos de la Roche that seems to fill the mouth, yet it batons down the hatches on the saline finish, confirming that it deserves several years in bottle. Like other producers with both Grand Crus, I feel the Clos Saint-Denis has its nose just out in front. (NM) " (12/2020)
