"(...) The 1996 Cabernet Sauvignon displays herbaceousness in addition to a distinctive note of briny olives intermixed with black currants. A sweet, heavy-handed, full-bodied wine with plenty of fat and fruit, its herbaceousness and cumbersome feel in the mouth kept my score down, particularly when compared to vintages where the wine had more concentration without as much heaviness. Regaleali is one of five estates run by the Tasca d’Almerita family.
Tenuta Regaleali, or Tasca d’Almerita makes some interesting Sicilian wines.
Tenuta Regaleali is something of a quality reference for Sicily. For a long time it was more or less the only producer in Sicily worth knowing about.
Rosso del Conte, the future flagship of the estate, was created in the early 1970s, and made people discover the quality of the indigenous grape nero d’avola.
