Chapelle-Chambertin GC 2005 - Cécile Tremblay (magnum, 1.5 l)

Tasting notes

"(...) The 2005 Chapelle-Chambertin Grand Cru was proffered by Cécile Tremblay at an evening dinner. I was not taking notes but I was so taken by this wine that I made an exception, not least because it came direct from her cellar in magnum form. It had an exquisite bouquet of mulberry, blueberry, incense of potpourri, all beautifully defined, just a touch of scorched earth emerging with time in the glass. The palate is beautifully balanced with a fine bead of acidity, utterly harmonious and focused with great depth and freshness on the finish that perhaps belies the structure. I suspect that the larger format enhanced this wine, but it attests to the ageability of Tremblay's wines. Just superb. (...)"
