Château Margaux 1994

Tasting notes

"(...) Chateau Margaux’s 1994 has always been one of the candidates for the “wine of the vintage.” The wine still has a dense plum/purple color and a big, sweet nose of black fruits intermixed with licorice, camphor, vanilla, and a hint of flowers. The wine is dense and powerful, but the tannins have softened and do not seem as hard and intrusive as they did in the late nineties. (...)"

INFORMATIONS ABOUT THE ESTATE

Although it is of considerable size, the vineyard is cultivated with meticulous application and pious repect of quality. The only wines which are given the honor of bearing the Château margaux label are those which have passed the test of stringent selection. This segregation which is extremely severe leads to the production of the second wine, distruted under the label "Pavillon rouge du Château Margaux".

A parcel of very fine gravel soil covering some 12 hectares has been planted for more than a century to the Sauvignon blanc grape, which in limited quantities, produces a dry wine, original and subtle, called the "Pavillon blanc du Château Margaux."
