The fruit is black (damsons, black cherries, blackberries), it’s full-bodied, with the alcohol well-integrated, and I feel there is enough stuffing, acidity and fruit to absorb all that oak. Bodegas Castaño is one of the most important wine growers in South-Eastern Spain, they are most notable for their use of the indigenous grape variety Monastrell, also known as Mouvedre or Mataro.

MONASTRELL is a variety which is perfectly adapted to the climate and soil conditions of Yecla, due to the fact that it is able to bear the extreme differences in temperature from winter to summer.
