"(...) the 1999 is packed and stacked. Aromas of cola, coffee, blackberries, and intense black cherry jam interspersed with mocha, licorice, and pain grille characteristics are followed by a massive wine with great precision, purity, concentration, and length. I don't want to get too carried away since only 4,000 bottles were produced, but this is a riveting example of what can be achieved on the Tuscan coastline.(...)."

INFORMATIONS ABOUT THE ESTATE

Le Macchiole is located on the Bolgherese road, at around 5 km from the sea in the heart of the Bolgheri Doc area. It extends over 22 hectares, with high density plantation and low yields (“one bottle of wine per vine”).

They produce four red wines Messorio, Paleo, Scrio, Bolgheri Rosso DOC and 1 white wine Paleo Bianco, with a total production of around 100.000 bottles per year.
