"The estate’s flagship Tenuta di Valgiano is rich, generous and inviting, but also a touch diffuse in 2007. Tar, smoke, soy, earthiness and incense are some of the nuances that emerge over time, adding complexity to the warm, dark fruit. This is an open, forward Tenuta that sweeps across the palate with generous fruit, but it comes across as unusually precocious and not built for the long term, while the aromatics aren’t as clean as they could be."

INFORMATIONS ABOUT THE ESTATE

Tenuta di Valgiano is situated on the south-facing, basin-shaped part of the Lucca hills between 230 and 270 meters above sea level, where vines and olives flourish in the unique conditions of the mid-hill area.

The vineyards stand on a terrace of pebbles and clayey “albarese” rocks with a density of 5,700 vines per hectare.
