INFORMATIONS ABOUT THE ESTATE

The story goes that ships sailing past the château had to dip their sails as salute to the all-powerful Duke d'Epernon, Grand Amiral de France, from which the name Beychevelle ("Baisse-voile, or dip sails") is derived and also the origin of the château arms.

Second wine: Amiral de Beychevelle;

Best vintages : 2010, 2009, 2005, 2003, 2000, 1986, 1982, 1953;

Grape variety: 60 % cabernet sauvignon, 28% merlot, 8% cabernet franc, 4 % petit verdot.
