"Deep garnet in color, the 2010 Clos du Marquis opens with medicinal, cherry cough syrup scents followed by a core of plum preserves and crème de cassis plus a touch of wild sage. Medium to full-bodied, the palate is coated with maturing black fruits and dried mint flavors, framed by chewy tannins and finishing with a refreshing lift."

INFORMATIONS ABOUT THE ESTATE

The estate of Léoville Las Cases stretches from the village of Saint-Julien as far as Château Latour. The greater part of its vineyard is the closest to the Gironde estuary of all the growths of Saint-Julien.

Since 1902, the estate has been producing a second wine "le Clos du Marquis" made from those vines outside the main enclosure.

Production : 216'000 bottles ;

Surface : 97 ha ;

Plantation density : 8'797 vines/ha;

Age of the vines : 30 years;

Second wine : Le petit lion du marquis Leoville Las Cases; 

Other wine : Clos du Marquis (since 1902);

Best vintages : 2009, 2005, 2000, 1996, 1986;

Wine variety : 65% cabernet sauvignon, 19% merlot, 13% cabernet franc, 3 % petit verdot.
