"While backward and tannic, the wine is dense, powerful, and rich, with an opaque black/plum color, and aggressive levels of toasty new oak. If the oak was not so lavish, the wine might merit an even higher rating, because it is super-extracted and pure, with remarkable balance for its massive size and weight. "

INFORMATIONS ABOUT THE ESTATE

Clos Mogador is a winery found in the village of Gratallops. It was founded in 1982, and is owned by René Barbier, one of the Priorat´s Renaissance pioneers.

Clos Mogador winery covers 13 hectares. Six hectares are made of 80 years old Cariñena, two hectares of 6 years old Cabernet-Sauvignon, three hectares of 6 years old Garnacha and 2 ha of 6 year old are Syrah.

Espectacle’s fruit is sourced from a single vineyard of 100+-year-old Garnacha vines located at La Figuera on the northern edge of the Montsant DO. The vineyard is looked after by Rene Barbier’s Clos Mogador team and the wine is vinified in one 4000-liter oak vat at Celler Laurona. This results in the production of about 5000 bottles in a normal year.
