Tightly wound, cool and bright pinot fruit notes that are still entirely primary in nature introduce intense, full-bodied yet edgy flavors underpinned by dusty tannins and good if not exceptional depth on the nicely complex finish. This is a solid wine with clear development potential but this is unlikely to be one of the great vintages of de Montille Rugiens are there just isn't the mid-palate density to provide the raw materials. Pretty rather than great."
