Pommard 1er Cru "Les Jarollières" 2001 - JM Boillot

Tasting notes

"Jean-Marc Boillot believes that 2001 is superior to 2000 though both vintages required an 'enormous among of triage work.' He says that he began the harvest on September 17th (the same day as the ban de vendange, which is almost a week earlier than most of the domaines that I visited). Boillot elected to do much less punching down, for fear of extracting drying tannins and he shorted the cuvaisons for any of the vineyards that saw hail. 'Sugars were between 11.5 to 12% and phenolic ripeness was adequate and we will likely fine and filter the reds.' The malos were extremely long, in fact so long that the Jarolières still had not finished and as such is not rated here."
