Amarone Classico 1979 - Masi

Tasting notes

"(...) Fantastic, expressive mushroom covered forest floor is the dominant note, but there are hints of graphite, tar, black cherries and green briar mixed in there. Lots of lushness to the overall "old" aromas, despite some noticeable high tones lurking beneath. The palate is getting juicier and juicer as it sits in the glass, showcasing plenty of ripe cherries, some cranberries, more mushrooms cooked in oil, top soil, and decaying tree. Acid plays a strong role on the palate, and it's the acid that wollops hard on the finish. Pretty incredible acid for a 33 year old wine. (...)"
