The following abbreviations are used (see abbreviations below) to determine the level of winein our old vintages of Bordeaux:

IN: Normal level. A normal level indicates very good storage conditions. For wines over 40 years old, it may indicate a reconditioned bottle.

BG: Low in the neck of the bottle. A standard level for young or old wines. For vintage wines over 25 years oldthis indicates very good storage conditions.

TLB: Slightly lower in the neck of the bottle This is normal for wines over 10 years old. For wines over 25 years old, it shows very good storage conditions.

DE: At the top of the shoulders of the bottleA very good level for wines over 25 years old. HE: High in the shoulders of the bottle A good level for wines over 25 years of age.

ME: mid-way-down the shoulders of the bottle. Not unusual for wines over 40 years old. This does, however, indicate a significant risk of being undrinkable.

BE: Low-down in the shoulders of the bottle. This could be an indicator of poor storage conditions, with quite a high possibility of being undrinkable.
